My interest has for some time been with digital black and white conversion and Infrared medium format film, scanned for digital processing. To me it’s the best of both worlds: Getting back to that ancient way of shooting and developing film while finishing the whole creative journey in the digital world of scanning and computer work.

This fascination has aligned perfectly with my search for the “Being-ness” of all living things. And, even more intimately, capturing that essential self-awareness that we all share with living things.

I'm certain, in each of these images, there exists a Willfulness of Being - a life that is, or was, aware of itself. We begin. We exist. We end. But life itself continues as a manifestation of all the Beings that have shared it.

Of the old expression “not seeing the forest through the trees,” I, in reverse, often “miss the trees through the forest”! They are each a story of “Beingness” living a life. It’s so much better in the forest to know the Beings that live there - and maybe to know ourselves in the process.
